The annual National POW/MIA Recognition Day ceremony will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015, 3:00 P.M. at Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, one block north of Seatac Airport. The brief annual program gives a short update on the POW/MIA issue and allows each person attending an opportunity to place a POW/MIA bracelet in the bracelet repository, of a serviceman or woman who was missing but now accounted for.
Washington Memorial Park cemetery is located at 16445 International Boulevard, Seatac, WA 98188. It is one block north of Seatac Airport so normal airport directions can be used to find the cemetery along Pacific Highway South, Highway 99, or International Boulevard, whichever name you prefer. The POW/MIA Living Memorial and Bracelet Repository is located in the middle of the cemetery.
Traditionally, VFW and Auxiliary members from District 11, Skyway Post 9430, Charles C. Ralls Post 2886, Federal Way, and Frank R. Vaise Post 1263, Renton, remember on this important day, the 83,000 plus servicemen and women who went off to war, but have yet to return or be accounted for. Everyone is welcome to participate in this event, including the general public. It is not only an opportunity to remember those still missing but increase awareness of the POW/MIA issue.
