    Buddy Poppies

            Buddy Poppies:
    Donations received from “Buddy Poppy” drives are used entirely to fund our Veterans Assistance Programs. 
    “We honor our dead by helping the living.”


    Voice of Democracy Scholarship Program

            This program is a scholarship program available to students, grades 9 thru 12. It is an oral essay contest. The judging is Local, District, State and National. The National winner will receive a $25,000 Scholarship.


    Patriots Pen essay contest

             Patriots Pen is a written essay contest for grades 6 thru 8.  The National Winner will receive a $15,000 Savings Bond. The judging is Local, District, State and National.

    Youth Essay Contest:

                This essay contest is for grades 3 thru 5. This is exclusively awarded by the VFW, Department of Washington  Judging is done at the Local Post, District and State levels. The state winner will receive a Savings Bond. Contact Pam Vitiritti at the State Headquarters in Fife, WA. (253) 922-2114 for applications.


    National Military Services

    · Operation Uplink: This program provides no fee telephone cards to active duty military members around the world. These are used for them to call home to stay in touch with their loved ones.

    · Unmet Needs Program: This program provides financial assistance to active duty, guard and reserve personnel experiencing financial difficulties due to their deployment out of the Continental United States.

    · Military Assistance Program: This program provides funding for assistance programs such as; Welcome Home functions and Health and Comfort packages.
